What is it?

  • Kahoot is a game-based classroom response system that allows teachers to create and play quizzes, discussions and surveys (called Kahoots) using any device with a web browser. Kahoot questions can include embedded videos and images, and teachers can control the pace of Kahoot quizzes and surveys by adding a time limit (up to 30s) to each question. As students engage in the “kahoot,” they are awarded points based on correct answers and the timeliness of their answers. A leaderboard with the top 5 students is displayed after each question.

Don't Reinvent the Wheel!

  • Leverage the Learners to Learners pedagogy and task your students with building their own Kahoot! games.
    • The diagram below illustrates this idea. Students begin as "learners" and "players" of teacher-created Kahoot! games. Their role begins to transform as they "research" and "create" their own Kahoot! games focused on specific academic content. Students administer their games to the class; ultimately transitioning into a "teacher" / "leader" role.
  • Discover 1000s of public Kahoot! games here. If you find one you want to use with students, simply click Play to begin!
    • Caveat: You are unable to modify public games.
