What are Google Apps for Education?

  • It is a free cloud-based communication and collaboration tool, hosted by Google. With GAFE, students and teachers can communicate, store files and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in real time from school, work, or home.

Using the Mobile App
  • iOS and Android users, download the Google Drive app for access to your documents on the go!
    • When you sign in to the mobile app, you will need to enter your full GAFE e-mail address ( and password.
  • In addition to installing the Google Drive app, you should install the standalone mobile apps for Google Docs editors. These apps will allow you to edit your documents on the go.

  • Check out the video embedded below (from Google) for an overview of the new look & feel.
  • To change to the new Drive, click on the gear icon (top right corner of the Google Drive screen) > Select Experience the new Drive.

Google Classroom App

Overview (from Google):
  • Classroom is designed to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.
  • Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.
